  1. Take 1 pound lean round steak, sliced very thin
  2. Prepare 4 eggs
  3. Prepare 4 Tbsp cornflour (added 1 tsp of cornstarch to white flour)

  6. Take 2-3 Tbsp honey (I like spicy more than sweet)

  8. Take 2 large carrots, sliced very thin (I used my peeler to shave these)
  9. Take 4 spring onions, cut thin
  10. Make ready 1-1 1/2 C vegetable oil or coconut oil
  11. Make ready Soba or fettuccine noodles (I didn't have Soba noodles on hand)
  12. Take Fresh bean sprouts, if desired

Today we are making a spicy snack from Sichuan. We call it Leng Chi Niu Rou(冷吃牛肉). It is crispy beef fried in spicy, flavorful chili oil. Crispy beef tossed in a umami hot sauce packed with fried shallot, chili flakes, and Sichuan peppercorns.

Steps to make Crispy beef:
  1. Beat the eggs and add the flour and salt to make batter. Heat the oil in a wok type pan to medium high. Lightly coat the beef and then place in the pan. You have to do in batches because you can't overcrowd the meat in the pan. Cook about 3 minutes a side for a total of 6-7 minutes. The time will vary on how thin you have cut the meat. It should turn nice and brown. Set the meat aside.
  2. Remove all but 2 Tbsp of oil in the pan. Add in the vegies, chili sauce, honey and soy sauce. Cook this for 2-3 minutes on medium high and then add the meat back in and mix all together to get the meat warmed back up.
  3. Put on top of the noodles and serve.

We never had McDonald's when I was a kid, but Taco Bell was on the "okay sometimes" list. I don't remember ever eating Taco Bell when we weren't in the.
